Fishing Information
Equipment
I recently bought a new 2005 24 foot
Shearwater Bayboat. This boat is totally set up for light tackle fishing.
It has every option needed for making your day of fishing a success.
Starting with a 225 H.P Yamaha 4 stroke outboard. This is the quietest,
most reliable motor on the market. The boat has 3 live wells and can keep,
upwards of 700 baitfish alive. When bait is plentiful, it’s not uncommon
for me to catch that much. What I like to do is, take the bait somewhere
it’s not so plentiful, and live chum. This can really cause a feeding
frenzy. The boat has an awesome low range color depth finder/ GPS combo.
This helps in locating schools of baitfish and marking structure on the
bottom such as artificial reefs and wrecks. I also tow my boat with a new
2005 F150 crew cab. One of the biggest reasons for the equipment being
important, there’s nothing worse than canceling a trip last minute,
because a truck or boat won’t start. The majority of the people I fish,
look forward to these trips months in advance. Equipment is critical in
this business, and I believe I have the best possible for my clients. When
it comes to fishing Miami or fishing Fort Lauderdale. This boat is set up
for both inshore and offshore.
North
and South Biscayne Bay
Fish
calm, protected, and clear waters of Biscayne Bay and Biscayne National
Park. From stalking elusive Bonefish, to non-stop rod-bending action with
the ever-present Sea Trout and Barracuda hide. This location has it all
for the most experienced of anglers or novice. North Biscayne Bay is an
excellent place for children and novice anglers to learn new techniques while
enjoying lots of action.
Night
Fishing
For those looking for big game and a serious challenge. This area
also offers excellent night fishing for Tarpon and Snook. In the winter
time some monster Tarpon will exceed the 100-pound mark. These locations
are easily accesses from anywhere in Miami or Fort Lauderdale.
Flamingo-Everglades
National Park
For a fisherman or just anyone who enjoys nature "This is God's
Country". This place is completely alive with wildlife. From giant
American Alligators at the boat ramp to salt water Crocodiles in the
creeks. Hundreds of species of birds frequent this location. The fishing
here is second to none. Shallow water site fishing, wreck fishing, and
fishing mangrove shoreline are just a few of the fun things to do. All
kinds of game fish are available year round. Tarpon, Snook, Redfish, and
Trout are some of the most sought after. With all these positives there is
a slight drawback, accessibility is generally about an hour and a half to
two hours drive from Miami or Fort Lauderdale. A very minor sacrifice to
fish a place so beautiful.
Upper Keys
The great thing about fishing the Upper Keys is you can start
sight-fishing the Gin clear waters of the keys while en-route to Flamingo
via water through Florida Bay back country. This is truly back country
fishing at it's finest. In my boat it's about 45 minutes from Islamorada
in the keys to Flamingo. With lots of opportunities on the way, it makes
for a great day of fishing. Keep in mind Tarpon season is best from April
through June, with fish over 100-pounds both day and night is not
uncommon.
Fresh Water
In the winter and spring we fish the canals of the Everglades. As
the lack of rain lowers the water levels fish begin to congregate in the
canals. When this happens banner days are in the forecast. Large Mouth
Bass are targeted with soft-plastics and top water lures. In the summer
and fall Peacock Bass get the call. These brilliantly colored, aggressive
game fish can really put on a show. Even on windy days this area is very
comfortable and easily accessed from Miami or Fort Lauderdale.
What To
Bring
I will provide all the fishing rods and bait, tackle and fishing
license. I will also have a cooler with ice on board. What you will need
to bring is any food, beverages, polarized sunglasses, hat, sun block and
a camera. Feel free to bring your favorite fishing rod or lure.
